Are back-friendly bed systems possible in a motorhome?

The average motorhome holidaymaker spends more than €50,000 on a new vehicle. But in spite of this large amount, the beds are often no more than a neglected afterthought or a compromise as part of the furnishings. Why is this? Money spent in an elaborate, healthy bed system can only be seen at second glance and is frequently only felt much later – an invisible feature that often has to be explained in detail to the potential purchaser.

The lack of space makes it necessary to compromise

Furthermore, a motorhome offers only very limited space for all the fittings of a holiday home: living room, kitchen, washroom, cupboards and then there's also the bed. Given floor space of no more than ten to twenty square metres, it's always going to be necessary to compromise.

As a result, the classic bed systems ("padded boards") used in motorhomes with a pop-up roof come nowhere near meeting the demands made in terms of lying comfort and quality of sleep. The limited space available places corresponding constraints on the technical possibilities for providing an optimum, individually adjustable bed system. Even so, here too it is necessary to come as close as possible to the criteria for a "home bed".
