Help with back pain

Being an AGR supporting member is more than just a membership in an association. AGR supporting members are part of a community, sharing an interest in their fellow human beings. Helping people with back pain is important to them. They support the expansion of our extensive activities – including the further development of the “Alliance Against Backache”. This results in competent, quality advice that ultimately serves their work and offers considerable added value for their patients.
People don’t just have to accept back pain. We want to make a contribution by showing how to do things differently. What people can do for a life with better back health. In keeping with the motto: Together against back pain.
Being a supporting member has special benefits. By utilising just one or two of the AGR benefits, your personal financial gain quickly exceeds your financial outlay. That is intentional and guaranteed!

These primarily belong to the medical/therapeutic profession. However, membership is also possible for individuals, but also for legal entities (practices, clinics).
We personally spoke to many of our members and asked them why it is important to them to be part of this community. The results of our discussions is extremely pleasing. The overwhelming majority of supporting members support us, according to their own statements, because they are very much in favour of the work carried out by the AGR. Thanks to the AGR supporting members, we were once again able to organise a fundraising campaign: this year, together with the company TOGU, we supported the “Haus der Diakonie” day care centre in Selsingen.

„Together for a back-healthy life” – this has been our motto for promoting back health for more than 25 years and we have awarded the AGR seal of approval to products that are particularly back-friendly. We are supported in this endeavour by our sponsoring members!
Our deputy managing director Jens Löhn emphasises the importance of exercise to prevent back pain, regardless of age: “Whether you’re young or old, if you don’t want to have back pain, you should keep moving. But as we get older, our backs start to tweak more often”. This is also the reason why we decided in favour of the day care centre in Selsingen for his year’s fundraising campaign.
„Exercise keeps body and mind energised,” adds our colleague Kerstin Meier-Detjen. “Regular exercise is particularly important in old age, when people are no longer as mobile as they were when they were younger,” she emphasises.
The two members of the AGR board had a moving afternoon in the truest sense of the word at „Haus der Diakonie“, because not only the day care team was delighted with their visit. The guests were also delighted with the large basket full of TOGU sports equipment! A circle of chairs was spontaneously formed and the first exercises were performed with great enthusiasm. From now on, the easy-to-grip exercise balls, Dynair ball cushions and hand trainers will bring new vigour to the exercise sessions. The guests were particularly fond of the handy Brasil deep muscle trainers. Jens Löhn and Kerstin Meier-Detjen showed the guests a few ways in which they could incorporate their new training partners into their everyday lives – it’s hard to say who had more fun!
„It’s nice to see the joy you get back when you help a little,” the two summarise their pre-Christmas outing.
A big thank you goes to our supporting members, without whom such campaigns would not be possible. With their support, they make a significant contribution to ensuring that people with back pain find help at the AGR.

This time, we donate 18 school bags and backpacks to the neighbourhood and district shop in Bremervörde. Both organisations are contact points for children aged 6 to 12 and support them and their families in many aspects of their development and education.

„True to our motto „Together against back pain”, we not only want to provide information about back health, but also actively support regional organisations. We are delighted that, thanks to our supporting members and together with the school bag manufacturers Coocazoo and Belmil, we can also help the little ones with this campaign. Because back pain knows no age,“ says Jens Löhn from the AGR team.
Our colleague Malte Kammann adds: “We have long been aware of the commitment of Mrs Schneider and Mrs Schmidt, who works together with the many volunteers for the children in Bremervörde. So it wasn’t a difficult decision to support them this year.”
We recently presented 18 school satchels and rucksacks to the heads of the centres, Sabine Schneide and Almut Schmidt. These are both satchels (with the AGR seal of approval, of course) for the new ABC pupils, some of whom are already looking forward to their first day at school, as well as rucksacks for the older children who will soon be moving on to secondary schools.
Even after the first announcement, the children were full of joy about it, reports Sabine Schneider from the neighbourhood shop and Almut Schmidt from the district shop adds: “In fact, the children often lack the necessary equipment for everyday school life. So it was actually difficult for us to make a targeted selection because the families’ needs are actually higher,” they both add in unison.
And what can we say? The shining eyes of the children at the handover confirmed that we had made the right choice and everyone was delighted. 😊
We would therefore like to thank the companies Coocazoo and Belmil for their generous support and for providing the satchels and school backpacks.
A big thank you also goes to you, dear supporting members, because with your membership you not only strengthen our backs and support our work, but also make such special events possible!
May 2021
In cooperation with our supporting members and VS, we were able to tackle a project of special importance to us this year. In the course of our “Campaign for Healthier Backs in Children”, we were able to make a greatly appreciated donation to the “Moorkinners”, a day-care centre in Bremervörde focusing on movement. After all, back problems are not a question of age so that back-friendly furnishings are important even for the youngest.

The day-care centre strives to impart an understanding of the importance of movement in a playful manner. Motor development is promoted and thereby supports integrated learning. We wholeheartedly agree with that since plenty of movement is elementary for the development of the body, soul and psyche and therefore also the back. The AGR supports this thinking.
After we presented the 12 Hokki to Elisabeth Knörr, the facility’s manager, Alice and Luca immediately claimed them.
They promptly took the mobile active chairs to the group rooms, beaming with joy. This immediately confirmed that we had definitely made the right choice.
The Hokkis are special seating furniture to encourage even more movement in the daily routine at the day-care centre. They are ideal for small suites where children can play games together at a table. Thanks to its special shape, a Hokki can move in all directions and is sure to offer numerous other potential uses in the future.
Alice and Luca’s exploratory urge (“Hey, you can rock with this!”) was clearly apparent during our visit. By the way, the Hokki is also ideal for a child’s room and naturally bears the AGR seal of approval.
“We, the Moorkinners team, are very happy about the donation of the Hokki stools for our day-care centre. It’s an enrichment to know that we can provide our children with secure support in their natural urge to move with these stools, thereby actively promoting their body and spirit,” Elisabeth Knörr says.
Thank you to VS, a leading manufacturer of furnishings for educational institutions, office furniture and equipment, and especially to our supporting members who made this donation possible in the first place. Even if you were not able to be there in person, looking into the bright eyes of the children and seeing their joy as they experimented was well worth it and we wanted to share that with you.
Thank you, supporting members, for your commitment!
The AGR Team
Back pain is the number 1 widespread disease! Back pain is still the reason for most days of incapacity to work. Fortunately, anyone looking for help can find many health offers, products or aids that can prevent or alleviate back pain.
The problem is that it is often difficult for individuals to find their way through the jungle of products on offer. Which products actually help against back pain and which don’t? For you as a manufacturer of ergonomic products that actually counteract back pain, it is becoming increasingly difficult to stand out from the mass of products on offer.
For this reason, we created the AGR seal of approval over 25 years ago, which recognises products that have been proven to promote back health. The AGR seal of approval is awarded by an independent panel of health experts and shows: „This product can help prevent or alleviate back pain“.
As a manufacturer, you have the opportunity to set yourself apart from other offers with confidence, as the back-friendliness of your products has been confirmed by an interdisciplinary commission.
The AGR seal of approval is only arwaded to products that have been assessed as particularly back-friendly. For this assessment, the professional associations „Forum Gesunder Rücken – besser leben e. V.“ and the „Bundesverband deutscher Rückenschulen e. V.“ (Federal Association fo German Back Schools) put together an independent test commission made up of various health experts.
The quality of the AGR seal of approval was awarded the highest rating of „highly recommended“ by the federal German Consumer Initiative Association on the consumer portal label-online.de. The European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has also recognised the testing process and the AGR seal of approval as an EU certification mark and thus as absolutely reputable and trustworthy. It is therfore one of the few seals of approval to have received this high-quality international award. Another trust element that confirms the independence, credibility and quality standards of the AGR seal of approval and shows that consumers and partners can rely on it!

When it's a case of doing something beneficial for spinal health, preventing pain or dealing effectively with existing problems, experts tend to focus in particular on two structures: the autochthonous muscles and the proprioceptors. But what do these words mean and why are they so important?
The autochthonous muscles are small, deep muscles running along the spinal column. They keep us upright and stabilise the trunk. Proprioceptors are special depth sensors in muscles, tendons and joints. They keep the brain constantly informed about the position, tension and movement of the individual body parts. They are so important for spinal health because they permit find adjustments of the autochthonous muscles and are responsible for fundamental stability.
Special items of equipment make training particularly effective for these important structures.
